5 Tips for Rocking the Runway

So, about last week I attended this event held by TRESemmé called The Runway at Senayan City, Jakarta. The event was fun to watch and it was so packed as you can see below:

What is The Runway actually?

The Runway adalah acara yang diselenggarakan oleh TRESemmé Indonesia untuk para Style Seekers (sebutan untuk fans TRESemmé) dimana para Style Seekers dapat merasakan pengalaman seperti top model, bersama para finalis Asia’s Next Top Model.

Peserta The Runway akan mendapatkan free workshop tentang make up, hair styling dan catwalk dari para professional di acara tersebut. Dan peserta The Runway juga berkesempatan menjadi TRESemmé YouTube Star.

Para kontestan Asia's Next Top Model 2 juga ikut hadir memeriahkan acara tersebut dengan cat-walking and posing on the stage:

HOW to JOIN?

4. Prepare your Runway Shirt!

This is the shirt that you'll get inside the Runway Kit bag, which you must wear at the event. You can modify it as you like in order to express yourself and to stand out among other contestants!

For example, I will modify my shirt to be like my own red striped shirt (well, kind of). ↑

 You only need ONE tool to get it done: SCISSORS. And a sharp one, please.

 First, I'm gonna cut this part of the shirt to create the ties.

 After that, I'm gonna cut the shirt right in the middle to make it cropped!

  TADAH! Easy peasy right? Although I must admit the cutting is quite messy lol. But that's okay! This is not a designer contest :D

 NEXT! To make it more unique and outstanding (hence more attention), I'm going to write something on the back of the shirt! Yes, using NAIL POLISH! In vibrant color some more!!

Don't forget to slip in a book as a base for your writing and to prevent the nail polish from seeping into the front part of the shirt.

 I decided to write my name on it to make the judges easier to remember me!

Like, "The girl with the name written on the back." haha! I also added my horoscope symbol to make it even more memorable lol. Who knows if there is a girl named Elle too and she also writes her name on her back? Wouldn't wanna risk that...

5. Now that your runway shirt is ready, it's time to work on your presentation at the event! I'm going to share with you some tips from what I've learned during the event! :D

5 Tips for Rocking the Runway

5.1. POSE! POSE! POSE!
When you reach the end of the runway (the point where there are a lot of photographers ready to snap you), DON'T JUST WALK AWAY:

Just a simple classic pose like this is enough:

Lean on one hip, make an eye contact, and SMILE!

Or if you want to make a statement, you can pose like this lol:

Some of the contestants were really good at posing, they even TWIRLED:

5.2. Don't walk too slow or too fast.
It will ruin the rhythm of someone behind you (poor her) and worse, it makes you look timid! Which is not a good quality in modeling.

5.3. Wear comfortable shoes.
The way you walk depends on your shoes! Most of the contestants walked awkwardly because they walked in sky high stilettos, which are fine IF you're trained with them. But if you are not, better choose something that will help you walk steadily and confidently. REMEMBER, the judges will not judge you based on what you're wearing, but more on how you present yourself as a model.

I'd choose BOOTS of course!

5.4. SMILE and NEVER LOOK DOWN
Even though most professional models don't smile, but as an audience, I've got to say I feel happier if I see a contestant smiles! And then I will take a good look at her and try to remember her name. You can also wave and smile to the audience, it will surely grab many attention! :D

As for your eyes, pick a spot that you can stare at so you won’t get distracted by anything else around you! Never. Look. Down.

5.5. BE CONFIDENT!
This is my last and most important tip. I know it must be nerve-racking when you are about to enter the stage, but just do these 4 simple steps to calm down:
-Take a deep breath three times
-Remember your training
-Pray
-Repeat this to yourself: "I'm beautiful, I'm beautiful, I'm beautiful."

HOW-TO: Aegyo Sal *Puffy, Smiling Eyes* in 3 Steps!

Aegyo Sal is a Korean make up trend which highlights the eye pouches located right under the lower lash line. I heard some people doubt this Aegyo Sal trend because they confuse it with eye bags. Note that the two are completely different, see below pic for comparison ^^

 You see, eye bags are the one that is caused by lack of sleep, too much crying and other bad stuffs that can only lead to tired, older looking eyes. Now Aegyo Sal on the other hand is the puffy part right below the lower lash line that's commonly more profound on children. However, it usually appears when you smile! Highlighting your natural Aegyo Sal will make your eyes look younger, cuter and more attractive. :D

  In this *freakishly* simple tutorial, I'm using Holika Holika Jewel-light Under Eye Maker.

Three simple steps Aegyo Sal!

1. Draw the outline with the dark side of the pen

2. 'Fill' in the inside with the bright side of the pen

3. Blend, blend, blend

 Tadah!!!

How is it? Super easy, right?? Hahahahahaha

This is how it looks like when I use it on my hand. The dark (brown) color and the bright (white) one look pretty vivid to me. I also love the fact that this is a two-in-one tool (both the dark and bright colors are here, very efficient!). The only thing I dislike about this useful tool is that the texture is kind of like a dry crayon, which requires you to rub your eyes; which is not good because your eyes' skin is very sensitive and the more you rub, the easier it ages *shriek*. However, you can try dabbing it little by little instead of rubbing it. ^^

Preppy Colorful Style TIPS + Joker Game WAKUWAKU JAPAN Movie Review

Some essentials you'll need for this colorful preppy look:

1. Grid / Plaid / Checkered Shirt or Blouse (preferably dark colored)

TIPS:

• For layering style like this, be sure to wear lightweight pieces so you won't end up bulky

(unless bulky effect is what you're after ^^)

• You can wear a cropped outerwear like mine, or you can tuck it into your skirt

• Try not to wear too many prints at one time

• A pair of opaque tights would give classier effect than sheer tights for this look

Anyway, Elle and I recently watched this thriller Japanese movie Joker Game (ジョーカーゲーム) on WAKUWAKU JAPAN TV Channel (#168).

Simply put, Joker Game tells a story of high school students in their 12^th year going on a camp. One of the “chosen” classes is going to spend three to four days at an empty school building following the rule that was made by the Japanese government for the purpose of having a better generation for Japan, which is smart and have high IQ.

For the selection itself, they have to play a game called Joker Game. In which, those who win this game is considered a good enough generation for the future and can go home directly, while those who lose will be sent to some kind of training camp that is so strict that their life will often be in danger.

When they got inside that empty school building, their homeroom teacher started to lecture them on how this game works. Well, this game is actually popular even among us Indonesians (I have played this game countless time in my childhood). In a nut shell, a deck of cards will be dealt to the students including the Joker card in it and they have to exchange their cards with other students. When you collect the same card (a pair) from other students, then you get to throw these two cards away (your total cards will be decreasing). In the end, all the cards will be thrown away, leaving a single Joker card. The student who has the joker card at the end of the game loses and will be sent to the training camp. If they decided to rebel or skip the game, there will be a death penalty.

In my opinion, this movie is similar to Battle Royale (also a Japanese movie), in a lighter and un-sadistic version, therefore quite boring. The actors and actresses' performance are also so-so, nothing compared to Battle Royale. The same goes for the plot. But for those of you who have not watched Battle Royale, this can be an interesting movie with its fairly unique idea. Some scenes can also make your heart goes thumping because you will keep guessing who will be holding the joker card at the end of the game, who is going to survive and who is not, and whether or not those who lose can survive.

One of the actresses is a crew of AKB48 Rie Kitahara (Chinatsu). I personally think all the guys in the movie are nothing but boring. Whereas my favorite actress will be the friend of Chinatsu, her real name is Yui Koike. Although her character in this movie is najis (a girl who is willing to give her all for a guy she likes) but she is really pretty! Here you can take a look at her pic:
