Joe's Birthday Dinner at Pince & Pints, Singapore

So, our lil bro just turned 23 last week, but due to work and all, we couldn't celebrate it properly (we did surprise him on the 00:00 tho)! Luckily, we had this job last weekend in Singapore that required his involvement! Thus, we decided to take him to this lobster restaurant that we've been eyeing since last year... Pince and Pints!

The Lobster Roll (their best seller) — $58++
This one is very similar with Burger & Lobster's Lobster Roll in London (a Michellin-starred restaurant!), the taste was just as wonderful and rich, if not better. And the bread was delicious as well!
The Truffle Roll  $68++
(Just like The Lobster Roll but with the addition of Truffle Butter Sauce and Truffle Caviar)
Chilli Lobster (accompanied by Fried Mantou)  $58++
The portion of this one is really HUGE! Maybe because of the rich, generous soup.
Nevertheless, it's very delicious! The chili soup tastes sweet rather than spicy. The meat is fresh, juicy and easily peeled off from the shell. Heck, it's very delicious that even Jess finally decided to suckle the rest of the dish with her hands! X"D
 **rare occasion**
Joe with his Truffle Roll.

Glad that he loved it so much! He said it was definitely one of the best food he ever tasted hahah, but seriously though, their lobster was SO GEWDDD!!! And they use 1 whole lobster for each dish, so it's totally worth your money. We highly recommend it, especially if you love lobsters! ♥

Happy birthday once again, you lil monkey! No matter how old you are, how crazy you can be, you will always be our baby bro, and we will always have your back! x

What to Eat in Korea | BINGSU at 'Sulbing (설빙): Korean Dessert Cafe'

Injeolmi (인절미) Bingsu

Annyeonghaseyo! Today we're gonna introduce you to this simple yet awesome Korean dessert called Bingsu!
Bingsu is made of super soft shaved ice with various toppings. It is most popular in Summer, but it's basically (and thankfully) available all season. ^^
This one is Injeolmi (인절미) Bingsu.
The topping is Injeolmi, which is is a variety of 'Tteok' / Korean rice cake / glutinous rice / mochi... we guess? So aside from the super soft snowflake shaved ice, you also get the chewy injeolmi rice cakes inside, topped with soybean powder AND it comes with a small cup of sweet condensed milk for the finishing touch. But hold on, on top of that, the Injeolmi (인절미) Bingsu here in Sulbing uses shaved frozen milk instead of shaved ice, so it's even moreeeee delicious!

We also tried the Milk Red-bean flavour (₩ 7,000)! Yummyyy (especially if you're a fan of red bean), but still, we love the Injeolmi Bingsu more. ^^
Their best choices of Bingsu ↑ So curious of the Cheese flavour (lower left)!
Besides Bingsu, the other must-try dessert in this cafe is Injeolmi Toast!
It looks just like the photo! Σ(꒪ȏ꒪)
Love the sticky rice cakes in between. If your teeth is sensitive to cold foods, then this is your best choice here. :)
The other toasts. All look delish! (;﹏;)
As you can see, they have a pretty wide selection on the menu, and some of them were not included on this big menu yet. Like this Cheese Tteokbokki (SUPER yummy btw - smoking hot, spicy, savory-sweet and chewy, you gotta try it yourself):
We saw it on the (supposedly) new menu at a table near the cashier, along with these other newbies:

For drinks, we opted for mineral water (which is FREE and always available for self-service refill lol) and our mom tried their Traditional Ginger Tea and loved it! :)

THE PLACE
The atmosphere is very cozy!

We had our first Bingsu here in Sulbing (설빙) Korean Dessert Cafe and few days later, we tried this other place that sold Bingsu as well (a famous cafe which has many branches in Korea). We really thought it would be the same or at least similar like, c'mon, it's just Bingsu man, how hard is it to make a good one *optimistic*, but nuh-uh! The other place's Bingsu is not as soft, tasty and... It's just not as good as the one in Sulbing, seriously!

We think the secret lies in the shaved ice itself. As we mentioned above, here in Sulbing, instead of using shaved ice, they use shaved frozen MILK instead for their Bingsu; resulting in a creamier and tastier bowl of Bingsu!
Anyway, we stalked their website and found a very interesting fact that this cafe was launched in 2013 and it was a booming success; within only a year, they launched 490 stores. DAEBAK!!! So if you're going to Seoul and you're interested to try Bingsu here (which we really recommend you to do so), here you go:

Ah, NOW we're craving for a bowl of Bingsu! ><

Jakarta Day Out with Antonio #ItalianGoesLocal!

Earlier this month, we got a friendly invitation from this friendly Italian guy. Apparently he's traveling around Asia and would love to drop by Jakarta to have some good food and local experiences as part of his #ItalianGoesLocal quest. So, here we are exploring Jakarta for a few hours with him!

Antique Flea Market at Jl. Surabaya

To be honest, this is also our first time here at Jalan Surabaya; a spot in Menteng, Central Jakarta, famously known as a street filled with antiques for sale. We knew this place from Instagram (where else lol) but never got a chance to visit, so while Antonio's here, let's visit this tourist spot together, as tourists. (ノ≧▽≦)ノ*:・゚✧

Some photos from Antonio's Facebook because we were too busy roaming the street that we didn't took proper pictures of these beauties:
Love how friendly and polite the sellers were.

Wait, Jess DID took this picture ^^
Read a review about this place from TripAdvisorI decided to write this review after visiting an antique store in Kemang in Jakarta where most of the expats live where I saw similar antiques for 3-4 times the price you will find in Jalan Surabaya so it is definitely worth the trip if you want something unique at a good price!

Elle's OOTD:  GOWIGASA Dual Pocket Sleeveless Button-Up (Black) | Rakriz White Vest | Love, Bonito Shoes and Bag | H&M Skirt

Antonio said this place has a lot of things reminding him of his childhood..
...we assume that Indonesian and Italian kids share some things in common, then? ^^

Lunch at Talaga Sampireun

OKAY IT'S FOODIE TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Took Antonio to this place because not only the food is awesome, the view is nice as well.

We were seated in one of these 'saungs', where we can sit on the floor -like how some locals like to eat, and we can also do fish feeding here on the lake! Fish food is sold for IDR 7000 per pack.

Indonesian food FTW!
Our favorite dish of the day: MUSHROOM SATAY or SATE JAMUR TIRAM. Soooooo freaking delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All three of us couldn't stop praising it the whole time lol.

Antonio's cooling off his tongue with Es Kelapa Muda (Chilled Coconut Water) after spicy foods attack. (≧▽≦)づ

Elle does not think they're that spicy, though.

Jess' OOTD:  GOWIGASA Teddy Bow Plaid Shirt (Blue) and HW Skirt (Red) | Charles n Keith Bag | Forever21 Shoes

Jess was taking this picture when this woman came through and even though Jess has stopped posing and asked her to just continue passing on, she just stopped there, looking at her phone and... It went on for awhile, so Jess just continued taking pics instead hahaha. Can you sense the awkwardness? X"D

And that's all for our little Jakarta adventure with our new Italian friend, Antonio! If you want to follow his adventure across Asia, he's right over here, documenting his #ItalianGoesLocal memories:

NEW in Town: WAKUWAKU Japan Cafe

Some of you might have already heard about WAKUWAKU Japan. But for those of you who haven't, WAKUWAKU Japan is an entertainment channel that has been broadcasting Japanese TV programs in Indonesia since February 2014! For more info, read our review about it here.

And now ladies and gentlemen, WAKUWAKU Japan has spread their wings by establishing this Japanese-themed cafe:

Before you think something like, "Oh well, just another cafe with charming decor."

It's not!

WAKUWAKU Japan Cafe has something really unique and exciting to offer their customers which we think is very important if you want to stand out from the crowd, especially in these days where cafe business is growing so rapidly.

What they offer to you is... the opportunity to experience the real Japan.

Who wouldn't like to relax on the tatami, sip a cup of Ocha (or a spoon of Matcha ice cream) while enjoying the beautiful view of Japan's four seasons?
You can now do ALL that and more in Jakarta, thanks to WAKUWAKU Japan Cafe(´▽`ʃƪ)♡
Putting sakura ceiling on our Christmas wish list!
Here's a closer look to the indoor seating area. Covered by tatami mats and cushions, surrounded with LCDs showing the beautiful and soothing scenery that will complete your Japanese culinary experience. :)

The MENU

For food, we ordered Tai-Chazuke, Sake-Chazuke, Chirashi Sushi, and of course, Matcha Shiratama Anmitsu and Imagawa-Yaki for dessert! (ˆ ڡ ˆ)
A lovely waitress with our freshly-brewed Houjicha (roasted green tea)! All the waiters and waitresses there gave a very pleasant service. :)
Fyi, they give you a FREE REFILL on the tea! *wink*
And if you're feeling a bit cheapo or you're just not that hungry, you can order their tea only and get FREE Shiki-Oriori cake (click here to know what it is)! How awesome is that?
Kampai to the free cakes and tea drunk!! Lol.
Pour yourself a cup of tea (and even better with a slice of cake) to make this rainy day less dreary.

The FOOD

After the food arrived, we wanted to shove 'em right into our mouths, but they were just too pretty that we couldn't resist not taking any pictures!
In case you are wondering why there is a "Kaffein" word there, WAKUWAKU Cafe is a collaboration between WAKUWAKU Japan with Kaffein Cafe.
Elle's Sake-Chazuke (Salmon)
Jess' Tai-Chazuke (Snapper/Ikan Kakap)
As expected, the food tasted as good as they looked! It was no surprise because they imported the chef and food ingredients straight from JAPAN! And while we are on it, all the cutleries and equipments they use in the cafe are also Japan-made!
The toppings.
Sake-Chazuke and Tai-Chazuke are both warm, comforting type of food. The way to eat them is to pour the hot water (here at WWJ Cafe they use fish stock) over the rice like we did in the pictures.
Treat yourself and try them please! The fish stock in particular, was very light yet rich in flavor. Perfect companion during this rainy season. :)
Our tips: Eat them while they are hot. Don't take too much time in taking pictures!
Ah, did you know? The Jap initially used Ocha for the hot water, hence the name: Cha/tea + Tsuke/submerge, but nowadays people are starting to use fish stock. Also, they usually eat Chazuke after the main courses.

What seems to be everybody's favorite: Chirashi Sushi (or "Scattered Sushi")! We also love it to bits! :D

And while we were enjoying our meals...
JENG JENG JENG! Look who came to the cafe!!
IT'S ULTRAMAN!!! (✧۝✧)/
It was very entertaining and weird at the same time, seeing Ultraman posing with the food and photographed by many people while we were eating quietly at the next table from him! Such a rare event, lol!
And so, we decided to take a pic together before he took off saving the world! x)

Okay, we then continued to... dessert!! This Matcha Shiratama Anmitsu was so heavenly, we could die! The mochi was oh my God! So soft and melt in your mouth! Mixed with matcha ice cream and red bean and anmitsu, &*#^$%@*@&!!! That's all we could say...

Like most Japanese culture, this furoshiki-wrapped sweets is very unique! Shiki-OriOri with its cookie-texture represents Japanese four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. All of them taste yummy, we really enjoy them!! Especially when knowing the backstory of each cookies. ^^
As you can see from the picture above, they have an outdoor seating area as well! But we didn't manage to take a look as we went straight to the WAKUWAKU Cafe Opening Event on the ground level of the mall after we've finished our desserts!
It was so crowded because JKT48 was going to perform that night!
Not only is the event beautifully decorated with Japanese theme, there are also Japanese street games to keep you entertained and get to know Japan a little bit more.
Us. Failing so many times at this game. (Thanks Osafune-san for the pic ^^)
Oh yes, you can also borrow Yukatas for FREE to take some pictures! We chose this fake sakura tree as our backdrop ^^ Hopefully we can take pictures with real sakura in Japan soon!! *fingers crossed*

Found these funny-looking masks near the Yukata corner :D
All in all, we had a GREAT time that day! From the delicious food, nice ambience, lovely service and surprising event at the WAKUWAKU CAFE, to the fun and delightful WAKUWAKU Cafe opening event! Thank you, WAKUWAKU Japan and BinaBlog for inviting us!
See you again soon :D
